Aspiring teen social entrepreneurs raise $20,000 for charity

 

For teenagers Zhao Dian (pronounced Di An), Wang Zhe, Vanessa Goh and Lin Yeqing, the chance to gain first-hand experience in a social enterprise and organising their very own community involvement project (CIP) prompted them to join Citi-YMCA Youth For Causes.

Never too old to bust some moves - senior citizens “Zumba” with Health Minister at Silver Fiesta 2013

 

YMCA of Singapore and Central Singapore Community Development Council (CDC) will be rallying some 200 elderly for a mass Zumba dance as part of Silver Fiesta 2013 from 14-15 November 2013 at Toa Payoh HDB Hub. 

The two-day event aims to promote active ageing and create health awareness amongst the elderly. Mr Gan Kim Yong, Minister for Health, will be gracing the event. Besides giving a speech and touring the event activities and exhibits, Mr Gan who is also Chairman of the Ministerial Committee on Ageing, will also be participating in the ‘Zumba Gold!’ mass dance together with the elderly.

YMCA Sports Day 2013

YMCA of Singapore organised its first Sports Day today at ITE College West for 39 beneficiaries from MINDS Clementi and Christian Outreach to the Handicapped Former national sprinter and 100 metres record holder, Mr C Kunalan graced the event as a Special Guest.

Featuring the top hawker stalls in Singapore as voted by a panel of CEOs including Knight Frank Pte Ltd Executive Chairman Mr Tan Chiong Cheng and NTUC FairPrice Cooperative CEO Mr Seah Kian Peng, the book will be used to raise funds to support aspiring hawkerpreneurs to undergo practical training with veteran hawkers under the HMTPP.
